TFP - that's a hint

It should come as no surprise that the company, which won the UK Young Publisher of the Year award in 2007 from the British Book Industry and claims to "source the brightest talent from the web and develop brilliant books from it," has two blogs of its own. The first is Girl Friday [after all the company in question is The Friday Project! See her post on blooks] and Me And My Big Mouth.

"Founded in 2005, The Friday Project focuses on developing brilliant books from the most exciting and innovative web sites, properties and content." TFP's big claim to fame is that "[Our] sales and distribution is handled by Pan Macmillan, giving us huge national and international reach. We’ve formed creative partnerships across the globe, building relationships with overseas publishers, TV, film and radio production companies and merchandising groups."

Want to know if they would consider publishing your blook? There's a ten minute test for you to take:

If you would like to be a Friday Project author, that’s quite understandable but please be aware that there is stiff competition. With this in mind, we have devised an extremely clever test that should enable you to establish whether or not TFP is for you or, indeed, whether you are for us.

There's nothing a writer enjoys more than getting published. And good reviews. And lots of money from sales. Maybe a movie deal. But they also love to see a publisher succeed. With small presses biting the dust every other day, it's great to know that The Friday Project's list of titles has grown so rapidly that they've begun creating imprints. The first was Friday Books for non-fiction. The second is Friday Fiction.

Readers of this blog might remember that Blood, Sweat and Tea was pubbed by The Friday Project. I just pulled at random another title from TFP and it, too, is a blook, My Boyfriend is a Twat by Zoe McCarthy.

Developed from the hugely popular website "My Boyfriend is a Twat," this book is a glorious celebration of living with a complete twat of a boyfriend. Sensibly categorised and filled with observations and recommendations, this is the ultimate field guide to that most irritating of the species, the Twat.

The website has been described as a mixture of 'The Osbournes', 'Absolutely Fabulous' and 'My Family' and has a readership of hundreds of thousands. ... Winner of Best European Blog in 2005 and 2006.

I'm curious to know if there are other publishers focusing on web content. If you know of any, drop names and I'll follow up. Thanks.
